*** 988 option 1 *** This is the number to call if a veteran is considering suicide. You can also text “Hello” to 741741 or online chat at the Veterans Crisis Line. Please make a note of it. We cannot afford to allow our service men and women to go by the wayside, never leave a comrade behind!
Additionally, homelessness is an epidemic and the VA is making strides to combat veteran homelessness. If you encounter a homeless veteran here is the number to call for assistance: 877-424-3838

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we of Post 255 have lost our long time friend, comrade and brother Maj Marion “Mick” Cotten USMC Ret. Mick was a long time life member of the American Legion and a member of a number of military organizations. He dedicated his time to supporting our veterans and ensuring the Deltona Veterans Museum went from plans to completion. Mick recently moved to South Carolina in order to be closer to family and he will be forever missed. Rest easy Major. Mission complete, job most certainly well done!

Department Convention is coming up real fast (Jun 13 – 15). It is on the calendar with a link to their webpage. Please plan to attend as there is more to the Legion then just what happens at the Post, District and Area levels. There are opportunities to attend Legion training courses and to attend the general meetings. Please note that if you would like to attend either the Service Officer Course (must attend both days) or the Food Handlers Course you must preregister.

For upcoming events see our Calendar
